Over the years, I have spent countless hours learning fresh mathematical concepts across many subfields of mathematics, from trigonometry and analytical geometry to functional equations and combinatorics to number theory and diophantine equations.

I am naturally intrigued with the organization of numbers; I could easily recall over 100 digits of Pi after the decimal. I feel a sense of accomplishment when solving challenging mathematics problems. Nothing feels more fulfilling than seeing my solution to a complex problem slowly narrow down to a single answer.

I not only enjoy challenging myself with unique problems, but I also like to discuss my findings, lemmas, and questions with similar-minded people, talking about different theorems and finding unique and elegant methods to solve a problem.

Not only do I enjoy learning mathematics, but I also enjoy teaching it and spreading the joy of problem-solving to others.

Taekwondo

After years of intensive training, I finally passed the 4-hour examination required to become a 2nd-Poom black belt. Starting out in grade 1, I trained several times a week for years to hone my skills and discipline. This was an important journey in my life.
Over the years, I have garnered many associates and have been taught by many tutors.

After obtaining the 2nd Poom Black Belt, I worked as an assistant coach until the global epidemic broke out, and my practice was forced to be interrupted.

In the future, I aspire to pick up where I left off.

Drawing and Painting

I’ve loved drawing since kindergarten.

When I was drawing, I felt calm, relaxed, and enjoyed myself. Sometimes, it took me months to finish a painting, like the one fighting with a python. But it’s so worth it!

I’ll probably pick up my paintbrush again when I’m financially independent.

Music Journey

Like almost all kids, I started playing piano in kindergarten. It wasn’t fun at first, but I grew to love it. I even played a piano solo while singing “You Raise Me Up” in our school talent show as the ending presentation. I enjoyed playing beautiful songs so much.
To understand music better, I also studied music theory and history. This gave me a much better grasp of musical concepts and their origins.
Then, I started learning flute in the school band and even helped my flute teacher with her doctoral research. Thanks to my solid understanding of music through music theory, I learnt how to play flute very quickly.
Now, I’m learning to play guitar, something that I want to bring with me in the future.

Certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM):

Piano RCM Level 6, Level 7, Level 8, Level 9 Certificates
RCM Music History and Theory Level 9 Certificate
RCM Flute Level 8 Certificate

Living Life

I have loved hiking since I was a kid, and I love travelling with my family.

I have hiked to the top of mountains to watch the sunset, walked in thick snowshoes in minus 30 degrees Celsius temperatures, saw those big snowballs along the unfrozen rivers, and walked slowly on fragile frozen lakes to take pictures of incredible sunrises and those frozen methane bubbles.

I also love to photograph the Northern Lights. Being close to the mountains, I often set out at midnight when there were warnings for the Northern Lights storms. When I saw those dancing lights pouring down from the sky and onto the lakes and mountains, what an amazing nature!

I also love to travel abroad. I have been to the U.S., China, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Cuba and Mexico. I stayed with locals, played with dolphins, observed the steam craters of Arenal, Costa Rica’s most famous volcano, and even saw some white-faced capuchin monkeys!
